Snow’s Bad, So Sal and Jon go for a Walk

dscn0080ski-blogI love  downhill skiing, carving turns on the slopes but loose granular on packed granular (crushed ice on glare ice) really gets scraped down to boilerplate quickly on the weekends.   The cross country trails are frozen ruts and going downhill is treacherous.   I should go to the gym, I have a membership at the Senator Inn, which is a great health club with a magnificent pool.  But I would rather walk downtown in 10 degree weather with a 20 mph wind, then go to the gym, and I love swimming.dscn0076ski-blog

We walked up Central and  down the long steep hill, then over to Slates Bakery, for coffee and as chocolate coconut scones to warm up.  The wind chill was about ten below zero.   Briskly, we walked over to the boat ramp and down Front Street  by the frozen Kennebec River.

The back side of Brass and Friends Antiques always catches my attention.  Sal was frozen, and I was cold, we hustled back, another afternoon in Paradise.dscn0079ski-blog1
